Birte Suydan

Birte Suydan, age 78, passed away April 19th 2017.  Birte was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, George Suydan.  Survivors are two daughters Ava and Leda, sons George and Craig, daughter in-laws, Mary, Jennifer and Shannon, Sister Jytte Fawzy, brother Finn Jespersen, sister-in-law Tami Jespersen, and two granddaughters Meghan and Emma.  Birte was born in Thisted, Denmark and came to the states with her family at the age of 13.  She received her college degree in Art from the University of California at Santa Barbara where she was also the President of the Dance Society and performed in "The King and I" and other modern dance performances.  She was known as a sensitive, poetic artist, having sold and exhibited her oils, watercolors, drawings, etchings from Long Island New York to California. Her exhibits included one woman shows at the Ojai Art Center, the Ventura Arts Forum, and Santa Barbara Paul art show, a first prize at the Montecito Arts and Flower Festival, and she was commissioned for murals in Los Angeles and Rocklin Country Club in Sacramento.  She also won many contests in Florida throughout her life.  She was a devoted wife and mother who loved her friends and family.  She will be missed.
