My father was in the hospital and at The Manor and Dennis would visit with him often. Thank you for your service to our community and to my father in his time of need. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

I met Dennis through the Niceville Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce. We served on the Board of Directors for several years. He was one of the most giving and kindest person inside and out that I have ever met. My heart goes out to the family. He will definately be missed in our community

Words seem so inadequate at this moment. Dennis inspired his community, his church, and his fellow man to be better. We were better people in his presence. With kindness and respect he was always a welcoming figure. One could feel comfortable having a conversation with Dennis, he genuinely cared about people. We are thankful for the time God allowed him to stay. Obviously he has another purpose now. We will only know once we enter the Kingdom. Prayers to the family.

Bill has had many lovely exchanges with Dennis over the years (discussing favorite football teams) and he has prayed with me many times when I needed his comforting presence. He was a wonderful neighbor and I will always remember his big smile. We will continue to praise God that we knew him and will continue to pray for your family at this difficult time. We're always here if your need anything.

God truly blessed our lives when our family was greeted by Dennis that September morning back in 1998. Leah, Dennis touched so many people with that smile of his and that peaceful voice he had. He just made you feel special. I will miss his hugs and him asking me how the kids are doing. I pray that your precious memories you made with him will sustain you, Monica, Melody, their families and Matt and bring you comfort. Know that you are loved.

I am so very sorry for your loss and know that not only and especially your family, will miss him but your friends and church family as well. Praying for each of you as you seek the comfort that only He can give.

Mrs. Leah,
Our hearts are so heavy to hear about Pastor Dennis leaving this life. We absolutely know he is with Jesus and rejoice in that but I know you will miss your best friend until you are reunited. Please know that he was a tremendous blessing to us in the few years we lived in Niceville. He encouraged us to pursue missions when God said so (even though it seemed crazy!), he prayed with us, he even taught us some music history. I know you already know this but your husband is dearly loved.
Sending lots of love from Mexico.

Saddened by the news of Dennis going HOME but rejoicing in all the Lord has done through him. We have nothing but fond memories of him as our first minister of music after marriage & moving to Niceville. The Singing Christmas Tree will forever be some of our best memories... singing, drama, baby Jesus (x2) & toddler Jesus- Dennis was great with our children. Thankful for his love, leadership & friendship. Praying for the family & community. Hugs from Cali.

Dear Leah and family,

With a heavy heart I mourn a great loss with you. Therefore, I can't imagine how much more of a loss it is for you. Dennis means the world to me. He has always been there for me and encouraged me to use whatever gifts I have to serve the Lord. I have not met a better Christ like man. Leah you have continuously reflected the wife I can only hope to be. You both have impacted my life beyond words. I am thankful to have served under you both. Thank you for your service to the Lord with Dennis. You could not have spent time with Dennis or you Leah without seeing Jesus. I pray for you and your family that the Lord gives you a Peace beyond understanding as only he can. I wish I could be there to celebrate his life with you. Know I would if I could. I will be praying for you and your children.

With love Ginger

Leah and family, you are in our thoughts and prayers continually. Fifteen years ago, Dennis' joyful presentation of the Singing Christmas Tree led us to join you in serving the Lord at First Baptist. Dennis' legacy will live on in a powerful way through you, your children and grandchildren...and those he inspired to greater service to our Lord.

Leah, Matthew, Monica, and Melodye,
Dennis will be missed by all of us who shared his friendship. He was like his father, a godly and funny man , whom everyone loved and what Dennis instilled in Matthew and the legacy lives on through his family. Wish I could be there to give you hugs but I cry too much at funerals and that is not what I want to leave as a memory. Lifting you all in love and prayers through your time of grief.

Message from John & Donna McDowell
May 28, 2017 10:24 AM

Dear Leah & family, We are both heartbroken that we've lost Dennis. He was more than the Asso. Pastor of music he was the personality of the church. No one will ever fill his shoes. We will always be indebted to Dennis as our son of 44, Gary was on life support and us knowing we had the decision to make and was so distraught. ..
Dennis was the Pastor we needed for our strength as we ask God for guidance . He was loving, kind and gentle, and always God's man. We do know this pain deeply. Gary and Dennis are in God's house now. We left behind are hurting and feeling alone. As we go on this grief journey God is with us. Please call me for grief support Leah. ANYTIME...
May God give you grace as you prepare for your life without Dennis. With love and our prayers. John & Donna

Dennis reflected Jesus in his everyday walking around life. He loved Jesus and he loved others well and he put action to that love. He cared deeply about his family, his church and our community. We truly appreciate his support and encouragement of us personally and The Soul Care Project ministry. He will be remembered fondly and we join in celebrating his life.
