L.A. Johns, Jr.

LA Johns, Jr “John” age 90 was guided by Angeles in a peaceful sleep on October 26, 2017, with his loving wife of 71 years Mildred Carroll Johns (Nana) near his side. John had three sons Stephen and wife Bonita, Paul and wife Joy and Jeffrey and wife Judy. Four grandchildren, Aaron, Amanda, Nina (Johns), Ashley (Lundy) and three great grandchildren Kaleb, Keenan and Avery. Born to LA Johns, Sr and Flossie (Farmer) Johns on August 3, 1927 in Oconee, Georgia. He enlisted into the Army-Air Corp in 1945. In his career with the Army he achieved the rank of E7 Master Sargent and served during World War II, Korean War and the Vietnam War. His family followed him on extended assignments to Germany and France. John retired from active service at Fort Rucker, AL in 1971 after 26 years of service and continued his career with Farley Nuclear Plant in Dothan, Alabama. He settled in Fort Walton Beach, Florida in 1981. He loved to cook and was an excellent “Home Chef”. He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. A Graveside service was held on November 7, 2017 with full “Military Honors “at Fort Barrancas National Cemetery, as he wished to be with his military members in the service of their country, United States of America.
