Lavina Ruth Yeager Pate entered her heavenly home on October 13, 2017. Lavina was born and raised in Rock Lake, North Dakota on April 27, 1931 to Ernest and Agnes Yeager. She joined her three sisters, Elaine, Ernice and Irene. In 1932 Doris was born, in 1940 another baby girl Ethel and in 1942 brother Stanton (Buddy) completed the family. Lavina met and married a young handsome airman Samuel Luther Pate in January 1952. During the next 20 years they traveled to numerous Air Force bases around the world. They retired from Hurlburt Field, Sam’s last assignment, and settled in the Fort Walton Beach area. Lavina retired from civil service at Eglin Air Force Base. She is survived by her daughter, Ranae Curtis (Warren) of Shalimar; her son, Samuel Ernest Pate (Tena) of Tallahassee; five grandchildren, Richard Ives (Peggy) of Niceville; Elisabeth Curtis of Fort Walton Beach; Eric and Nathan Pate and William Curtis all of Tallahassee, Florida. A private family burial was held October 24, 2017 at Heritage Gardens Cemetery in Niceville. A Celebration of Live will be held November 18 at 1st United Methodist Church in Fort Walton Beach at 2:00 p.m., with visitation held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in their name to First UMC building fund or Trinity UMC Our Daily Bread soup kitchen.
