Ruth Lorene Poore

Ruth Lorene Poore age 91, previously of Scammon Kansas passed from this world on 5 December 2017 in Niceville, Florida. She had been a resident of Scammon for 69 Years before moving to Florida in 1995 to live with her youngest son Tom and his family.

She was born 1 March 1926 in Columbus, KS to her parents Lester Raymond Biggerstaff and Clo M. (Mullani) Biggerstaff. She attended Scammon Grade School, Mineral High School and graduated from Columbus High School in 1944.

Ruth Married Charles E. Poore on 18 November 1944 and he preceded her in death in 1964. Her oldest son Jerry had recently passed into Heaven on 18 November 2017 on her wedding anniversary just 17 days prior to her death. She had two brothers Roy and Ray Biggerstaff and one sister Mildred Redd along with her parents all preceding her in death.

She is survived by her son Tom and his wife Mayette and their two daughters, Monica and Janet, and great-granddaughter Angelica of Austin, TX, Jerry’s two daughters Jelaine and Tiffany and her husband Chad, and great-grandson Tyler and great-granddaughter Riley of Louisville, KY. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Laverda Biggerstaff and nephew Doug and niece Desma and nephew Terry Redd and their children along with Jerry’s wife Sharron and her family having several grandsons, granddaughters, and great-grandchildren.

Ruth was employed at the Parsons Ammunitions Plant in Kansas before transferring to the Census Bureau in Pittsburg, KS, and retiring as a civil servant in 1989 with 23 years of service. She was loved by all who knew her, and she will be at peace in our Lord’s hands. She will be missed by all…..

There will be a time of visitation held from 10-11am on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Heritage Gardens Funeral Home, with a Funeral Service to begin at 11am.

Per here wishes, she will be cremated and interment to follow at a later date at Hosey Hill Cemetery in Weir, KS.
