Shelley D. Weeks

Shelley Dean Weeks, 51, of Niceville, Florida, won her battle against cancer on May 15, 2017.  During her four year fight, she never wavered in her love and devotion to her Lord Jesus Christ.  Her steadfast reliance on God’s strength and compassion allowed her to persevere through very trying times, all while inspiring others to seek the same refuge she had found in Christ.  She was an incredible wife, mother, and teacher for her entire family.  Shelley will be dearly missed by all those she touched; she was a hopeful and positive presence in her community, never shirking from an opportunity to share a message of hope and healing through belief in Jesus Christ.  

She is survived by her husband Eric, son Christian, daughter Emma, brother Mitchell Dean, daughter-in-law Alyssa, and her adopted son Moses Chabu of Zambia.  Shelley was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, and was a beloved mathematics teacher at Niceville High School. She obtained her Educational Leadership Specialist degree from Florida State University and was a member of Crosspoint United Methodist Church in Niceville.  Shelley’s 32-year membership in the Zeta Kappa chapter of Chi Omega was an especially important aspect of her life; she loved her sisters dearly and held them as family.  Shelley’s family would like to offer their heartfelt appreciation to everyone who offered their prayers and support during her illness; the comfort she drew from those prayers helped to sustain her on many occasions.
