Shirley Ann Smith

Shirley Ann Smith, 83, of Niceville, passed away in her home surrounded by loving family on Monday, April 24, 2017 in Niceville, FL. Born on April 2, 1934; she was the daughter of Alfred Bertsel Harrison and Stella Starr Harrison of Brady, Texas. Shirley married Lester Sanders Smith on April 4, 1953. She and Lester had three daughters; Cindy Kaye Bear Eagle of Niceville, FL, Virginia Suzanne Wichlacz of West Bend, WI and Marsha Lynn Bayne of Tallahassee, FL.

Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother to quite an extended family. She loved to cook and never forgot a birthday. She was generous to all. In her younger days she enjoyed fishing and sewing. Shirley was a homemaker until her children were in middle school. She entered the work force with a civil service job as a secretary at Ft. Belvoir Army base in Virginia. She retired from civil service at Eglin Air Force Base after 30 years of service where she earned many accolades for her accomplishments during that time.

Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lester Sanders Smith, her daughter, Cindy Kaye Bear Eagle, grandson Travis Michael Wichlacz, great grandson Lincoln William Hurt and great grandson Alexander Tate.
