Our hearts break with your as we mourn the loss of one of our dearest Short Mountain Bible Camp staff members. Troy was an amazing man that cared deeply for his family and helping others. We will remember his laugh and sense of humor along with his passion for helping others. Some of my most cherished memories from SMBC are working with Troy on projects at the pool, fencing and running from a swarm of yellow jackets.

We love the Threet family and you will be within our prayers as the Lord holds you in His hands during this difficult time.

I was shocked and saddened to hear about Troy’s passing. We went to high school together and I can’t think of a more stand up young man. He was bright, kind, happy and hard working. His smile was contagious. I pray that the Lord will comfort his family with each passing day and I know Troy’s spirit will forever be alive in the hearts of each of his children. Jenny, I know how much you looked up to him and my heart aches for you and your parents. Lean on each other and cherish all of the memories and blessings you have been given and will continue to receive.
With sympathy,
Harmony Hess

Troy and I went to highschool together, graduating the same year, and were often thrown together in situations due to the close approximation of our lasts names at the time. He was always willing to help others out and loved making people smile. He was a kind soul. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, especially his wife and children. I know his absence will leave a deep hole for all who know and love him. May you all find comfort in his memory and may the Lord ease your hearts as only He can.

Angela, it has been a true blessing for us to have had you and Troy and your family as neighbors. Troy was the kind of man and father we all wish we could be. I will miss his enthusiasm and spirit. I was always amazed at his list of projects building furniture one day, trimming trees you name it Troy could do it. He will be missed and we will keep praying for you and your family - God Bless

When I think of Troy, I fondly remember him as a very sweet, fun loving, God loving, family loving, respectful young man. If you know his parents and sister, you know these characteristics of the Threet family were not accidental or happenstance. The years have passed since he grew up and moved away from Smyrna, but I don't think Troy lost who or Whose he was. His wife and children, though we've never met, must be very precious as well. Your hearts are broken but yet one day your reunion in heaven will be so sweet. Though many hearts are broken that he is no longer here on this earth, I pray that everyone of us try to emulate Christ as Troy strove to do.

Words will never express how sorry we are for the sadness you are experiencing. We were hoping to be with you physically but could not. Please know we are with you in thoughts and prayers. We pray you will find peace knowing Troy was a child of God and is now where we all long to be. Troy was a wonderful example! God bless you all! Love and Prayers for that abundant peace that only God can give.

Troy was young, vibrant, and so full of energy. He did not have to speak for his energy/presence to be known, for all he had to do was smile.

May you continue to accept God's loving hand and truth into your lives, for He know Troy has left you with incredible family, loved ones, and friends who will continue to help pave your path toward healing and growing.

Troy's smile was infectious. He reins from above with goodness and love.

We're so sorry for your tremendous loss. I've worked with Troy at Eglin; he worked very hard and always had a smile on his face. It's always so sad when someone so young and wholesome is taken from us early. I'll remember Troy's Tennessee spirit and wave as I head into work in the mornings. He was a great friend and coworker. Our prayers will be with you and your family.

Troy was my roommate for two years back in our college days, and I can't emphasize enough what a great friend, strong Christian, and all-around positive person he was. It's obvious that he went on to touch a lot of lives in the years since. My thoughts and prayers are with all of Troy's family and friends, and especially his wife and children.

Message from Blake Hathcock
November 19, 2017 2:52 PM

Hello,
My name is Blake Hathcock and I went to high school with Troy. We were on the swim team together and he was a great friend and a hard worker. I know that he is a Christian man and he is in heaven now. Sadly I did not keep up with Troy over the years but the last time I talked to him he seemed very happy. Having three children myself I know how hard this loss is. I will continue to pray for your family. I have often thought of him and hoped he was doing well. I could tell by the picture I saw of him and the kids that he was doing great. I am comforted in the fact that he left behind a wonderful and strong legacy for his children to follow. I cannot make it to the funeral but I felt like I owed him and your family these words of encouragement. Please email me the address of his resting place so that I might pay my respects personally if I am ever in the area.
