Vivian Louise Campbell of Niceville, Florida died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, December 30, 2017.  Vivian was born on October 7, 1932 to Henry and Martha Corbin (both deceased).  She was sister to Jim Corbin of Maryland and Willis Corbin (deceased).  Vivian married Henry Ford Campbell (deceased), at the young age of 15. They first lived in DeFuniak Springs and then, moved to Niceville in 1955.   As you can imagine, Vivian had to grow up fast!  He first son, James, was born 10 months after their marriage.  Shortly before the family moved to Niceville, their second son, Wayne, was born.  Eventually, they settled into a new home and she began her life of homemaker and mother there.  She was fortunate to make endearing friendships in her new neighborhood and enjoyed home, family, garden, and friends.

If ever there was a green thumb, Vivian had two!  She could take a cutting of anything and turn it into a beautiful plant or flower.

Mammaw, as we called her, was also a good cook.  She made delicious meals and loved to bake.  She liked having family and friends at her table and enjoyed their time together.

Vivian was as active in her community as a non-driver of a car could be.  She was a member of the Niceville American Legion Auxiliary for more than thirty years.  For many years, she cared for her mother and handicapped brother, Willis, helping them on an almost daily basis with anything they needed.    She volunteered at Bay Heritage Nursing Home where Willis eventually moved and was named “Volunteer Family Member of the Year!”  Vivian was a devoted mother raising two sons who followed her example of giving personal time and effort to their community.  Both James and Wayne have been exemplary members of several community organizations and have contributed to making lives better for many people.  She was very proud of her boys.

Vivian’s greatest heartache was the loss of her husband, Henry and her granddaughter, Meagan.  She was different after each loss and never fully reconciled her grief.

Vivian is survived by her son, James and wife, Gail; son, Wayne and wife, Susan; granddaughters Caryn and Meagan (deceased); grandsons K.C. (Ashley) and Ryan; great-grandson Brady James; and great-granddaughters Aslan Bryanna and Emerson Rose.

There will be a time of visitation at Heritage Gardens in Niceville on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.  There will be a private burial at Eight Mile Cemetery near Gaskin, Florida.  Although Vivian loved flowers, she loved her Meagan more, so the family is asking that if you want to honor Vivian, please make a donation to the Meagan Campbell Scholarship Fund at Northwest Florida State College Foundation, 100 College Blvd. E., Niceville, FL 2578, supporting the nursing program there.

The family extends a special thank you to the Administration and Staff of The Manor-BWB for their compassionate care for Mom the past two years.
