Clara Slack Ditmore, age 80, passed away peacefully in Pensacola, Florida, on Monday, October 22, 2018.
Clara was born to James and Gertrude Slack in Canaan, New Hampshire, on April 20, 1938. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, John Allen Ditmore. She is survived by her three daughters, Julie Perry and husband Frank Perry, Cindy Wondrow and husband Douglas Wondrow, and Carol Wright and husband Michael Wright; seven grandchildren, Jamie Howell and husband Adam Howell, Erin Rhodes and husband Dustin Rhodes, Zachary Wondrow and fiancé Jennifer Wilson, Dakota Hooper and wife Kristen Hooper, Megan Wondrow, Shannon Wondrow, and Raigen Wright; and five great-grandchildren, Laila Howell, Emilie Howell, Liliana Rhodes, Evelyn Rhodes, and John Wondrow. She is also survived by her brothers, Bernard Slack and Richard Slack; her sister, Betty Simon; and several nieces and nephews.
Clara joined the Air Force at the young age of 19. While serving our country, she met the man that she would marry. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her love of children kept her young at heart. After raising her children, she worked in transportation for the school district, loving the interaction with the students. Once she retired, she continued to have boundless energy caring for her great grandchildren whenever the opportunity arose. Her love languages were acts of service and quality time. She loved spending time with family and helping in any way she could. Clara will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. Saturday, October 27, at Heritage Gardens, 2201 Partin Drive, North, Niceville, Florida, with the funeral service following at 11:00 a.m.
