Colleen LaVonne James

Colleen James, 82, of Valparaiso, went home to be with the Lord on May 23, 2017.

She was born in 1935 on the family farm in rural Colorado, the oldest of 5 children of Harold and Velma Speicher.  She was beloved by 3 children, 5 stepchildren, 12 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.  She began a personal relationship with Jesus when she was 9, and her faith impacted the world most directly through her influence on her family and friends.  She was active in her churches all her life.

After her children were in school, she worked as a school librarian, then trained and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse.  Later, she moved to Arlington, Texas where she served for 20 years as the Business Administrator for New World United Methodist Church.  She retired and moved to Valparaiso to be nearer family, and then worked in the Shalamar United Methodist Church office for several years before retiring again. Interment at McPherson, Kansas.
