Collette Mary Casson Edwards, 82, peacefully passed away Monday, May 20th, 2019 at her home in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. She is survived by her children William, Kenneth, Scott, Suzanne, and Matthew as well as 11 grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, William Walter Edwards Jr, and her sons, Michael Joseph Edwards and Robert Francis Edwards.
Collette was born to the late Edward Arvin and Mary Frances Morris Casson on October 24, 1936. During her early years, and much to her parents’ chagrin, she had “things to do and places to go – morning, noon, and night.” With undergraduate studies in education, Collette had a passion for continued learning which she used throughout her vast journey. Among that journey were things like getting married to her best friend, raising a family (which she often stated was the greatest gift she had ever received but was also the most challenging), teaching High School, going back to school herself to study Theology, opening a print shop, and developing a residential housing project. After retirement, Collette enjoyed spending time with her family and whether she was the visitor or you were visiting her, it wasn’t uncommon to find her, without notice, backing out of your driveway when she decided she was ready to go or telling you in her polite voice that “You need to get home, Honey”, which everyone knew really meant “Get Out”. She also had a passion for scripture and spent a lot of time transcribing the teachings of the late Father Robert for the audio CD’s and pamphlets of Radio Maria. When she wasn’t working on Radio Maria, she was spending time with her friends from prayer group, sipping coffee on her back porch while gazing at the water, and talking to the dolphins that swam by the dock.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 29th, 2019 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida followed by Interment at Point Washington Community Cemetery at 11:30 a.m.
