Evelyn DuVall Wood

Evelyn Lucille DuVall Wood, age 92, of Niceville, FL passed away peacefully March 11, 2017, surrounded by family and friends.

Born May 18, 1924 in Leesburg, FL to the late Clark Howey DuVall and Mary Eloise Schnelle, Evelyn moved to Orlando in 1941. She graduated from Orlando High School in 1942 and went on to attend the Harrison Business School. After leaving school she went to work for Judge Ehlars of the Circuit Court in Orlando. She also worked in the dental office of Dr. Clyde Williams as an X-ray technician. She later accepted a Federal Civil Service position as a Communications Supervisor in the Headquarters Squadron at Orlando Air Base until the end of World War ll. She played a pivotal role during the Cold War maintaining information security as a tele-typist, managing daily encryption protocols at the Mount Ranier Ordinance Depot in Tacoma, Washington. Evelyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lionel MacTernan Wood Jr., infant son Edward Robert Wood and son Robert MacTernan Wood; her parents, sisters Genevieve Mary, Margaret Frances, Patricia Ann, and brother J. Clark. She is survived by daughters, Marilyn Maloney Hoffman (Bruce), Cathy Eloise McNutt (Philip) and Beverly Florence Wilburn (Marcus); sons, Edmund Clark Wood, Kenneth Howey Wood (Rhonda) and Michael James Wood (Cindi). Grandchildren, Debora Maloney Cain, Robert Peter Maloney Jr., Susan Denise Hammond (Max), James Kevin Maloney (Cindy), Andrea W. Trentman, Daniel Eugene Wood (Regina), Amanda Evelyn Wood, Christopher Ralph Baggett (Maria), William Jason Baggett (Bridget), Ryan Patrick McNutt, Rachel Wilburn Anderson (Colby), Travis Clark Wilburn (Tiffany), Robert Logan Wilburn, Skye Beth Marie Lowrey (Kyle), Douglas Jude Ehrhard (Susan), Sammy Jo Fannin (Perry); great-grandchildren, Denise Adian Cain, Aaron Carl Cain, Zoey Evelyn Kathleen Cain, Avary Irene Tennant, Lauren McDaniel, Noble Christian VanDinter, Timothy Eugene Wood, Joshua Edward Wood, Victoria Austin Ehrhard, James Mason Ehrhard, Grayson Philip Baggett, Ellie Kathryn Anderson, Kacelyn Faith Fannin, William Ryan Fannin, Taylor Nicole Fannin, Caitlyn Marie Fannin; godson Wayne Clayton Etheridge; three other children she took under her protective wing, Janet L. Kirkland, Kenny Howard, John Pridgeon, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.The family would like to express sincere heartfelt gratitude to Willa Walsh, Sally Hopper, Gina Connell and Emerald Coast Hospice for their dedicated care of our mother.
