Gayle Norgaard, age 82, passed away on October 2, 2019. She was born in McIntosh, MN to Palmer and Gladys Norgaard.
Gayle retired from the Air Force after 28 years of service as a highly decorated Lieutenant Colonel. She received her bachelor’s degree from Montana State College and is also a graduate of the Air Force Flight Nurse School, Squadron Officer School and Air Command and Staff College. She served as a nurse in both the Vietnam and Gulf Wars. Gayle was responsible for bringing Relay for Life to Okaloosa and Walton Counties and was honored as the “Humanitarian” inductee to the Hall of Fame of the Okaloosa County Commission on the Status of Women (OCCSW).
Survivors include her son, Eric Norgaard; brothers, Gerald Norgaard and Steven Myhre; sisters, Mary Lamb and Janelle Molleur; nieces and nephews, Sean and Kristin Norgaard, Erika and Matthew Lamb, Heather and Adam Molleur, and Eric, Luke, and Hillary Myhre.
A visitation will be held from 11:30-1:00 pm on Monday, October 7, 2019 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Niceville. The service will begin at 1:00 pm at the church with military honors and interment to follow in Heritage Gardens Cemetery.
