Hazel Regina Smiley DeAngelo

Hazel Regina Smiley DeAngelo passed from this life on October 15, 2017 to join her Lord and her husband in her eternal home in heaven. 

She was the epitome of a southern lady. On March 17, 1925 she was born in Monroe County, Tennessee to William G. Smiley and Allie Mae Brackett Smiley. She had 11 brothers and sisters. She was married to the love of her life, Frank T. DeAngelo, who preceded her in death just shy of 57 years. They were blessed with one daughter, Lisa. Her daughter and grandchildren were the joys of her life and they moved to Destin 16 years ago to be close to them. For 42 years Frank and Hazel lived in Indialantic, FL, where Hazel owned a lovely ladies boutique called Hazel's Samples. She was very active in the community and in her church, First Baptist of Indialantic.  

Survivors include her daughter, Lisa DeAngelo Fletcher and husband Brad; granddaughter, Ashely Fletcher Matyac and husband Stephen; grandsons, Garrett, Carter and Dawson Fletcher; sister, Annette Burger of Tennessee; nieces and nephews, Curt and Missy Burger, Debbie and Jeff Kidwell, Christy and Rick Johns, Eugene and Peggy Smiley, Gail and Greg Smith, Sherry and Robert Wilson, and Mark and Linda Pfenning of New Jersey.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff at Destin Health and Rehab who cared so lovingly for Hazel, to Covenant Hospice, and to her caregiver of the last 3 years, Sandy Sholar, who spent many hours with Hazel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Samaritan's Purse (samaritanspurse.org) or to Alzheimer/Dementia research.
