Jaime "James" R. Charon 90 of Destin, FL died peacefully Thursday, October 31, 2019 in hospice care from complications of kidney disease.
He leaves his daughter, Cecile Dolan and husband Robert; son James and wife Stacey and daughter Olga Soto and late husband Mikey. He also leaves grandchildren Sean, Shannon Sindell, Shane, Kurt, Keith, Abigail, Chere and Cher, eleven great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews, and leaves his brothers Inocencio, Rustituto, Elliot and sisters Marie and Liz.
In February 2019 he was preceded in death by his daughter Denise Koster. Also preceding him in death is his two younger brothers Jose and Ignacio. He was preceded in death by his late wife, Beatrice Anderson in 2013 and first wife and mother of his children Milsa Montalvo who recently passed in September 2019.
Born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico May 22, 1929 James spent his early years working in the fishing industry, traveled to New York where he became a cook, then joined the Army. Upon discharge he enlisted in the Army Reserves, became a Merchant Marine and later worked in Security.
He enjoyed all kinds of music so long as he could dance to it. His pride and joy was shrimping and boating. Long known for his positive outlook on life and his sense of humor, James served many years with the Texas VFW Post where he became a lifetime member. He also volunteered at the Boy Scouts of American where he later was inducted into the Order of the Arrow. James kept the faith and spread the word of our Lord to everyone he encountered.
An intimate service with friends and family will be held this Friday, November 8, 2019 at 2:30 P.M at the Barrancas National Cemetery located on 1 Cemetery Road in Pensacola NAS while the Blue Angels fly overhead for their homecoming!
