John A. Ditmore

John Allen Ditmore, age 86, passed away peacefully in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, on Saturday, August 19, 2017.

John was born to Fred and Alga Ditmore in Pampa, Texas, on September 27, 1930.  He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Clara Slack Ditmore; his son Allan Ditmore and wife Dee Ditmore, daughter Julie Perry and husband Frank Perry, daughter Cindy Wondrow and husband Douglas Wondrow, daughter Carol Ditmore and fiancé Michael Wright; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Ditmore Pate, Jamie Howell and husband Adam Howell, Erin Rhodes and husband Dustin Rhodes, Zachary Wondrow, Dakota Hooper and wife Kristen Hooper, Megan Wondrow, Shannon Wondrow, and Raigen Wright; and four great-grandchildren, Laila Howell, Emilie Howell, Liliana Rhodes, and Evelyn Rhodes.  He is also survived by his brothers, Lee Ditmore and Steve Ditmore; his sisters, Fredina Collins, Juanita Miller, and Margie Hamm; and several nieces and nephews.

John was a United States Air Force veteran of 28 years.  He served on the Air Force pistol team and was awarded a gold medal at the 1966 World Games hosted in Germany.  He was an avid golfer and loved to fish.  He never met a stranger, and he loved to tell stories.  He was a wonderful, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 

A visitation will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. Thursday, August 24, at Heritage Gardens, 2201 Partin Drive, North, Niceville, Florida, with the Memorial service following at 11:00 a.m.
