John Newberry Obituary

John Albert Newberry was born in Mobile, Alabama on March 29, 1966, the son of Thomas H. Newberry Jr. and Joan C. Johnson.

Johnny always was a free spirited and self driven person. He always loved working with his hands if it was working on cars or doing drywall. He had the biggest heart. He would give the shirt off of his back when it came to family or close friends. He was a person that you could count on being there and finishing the job right. He never held any punches.  His favorite song was Simple Man, I think he lived that way. He was a hard worker and played even harder.

When he was not working, he was fishing in the bayou. If it was storming, then you found him playing pool.

His biggest passion was his one and only love Shaylen J. Owens! Ever since she was born he was wrapped around her little finger. There was not a thing he wouldn’t do for her. She was the only one that held his heart until she blessed him with 3 amazing boys! He wanted boys so bad and then she gave him 3 little mini’s. Hayden, Carson, and John Jr. which he called JT. His feet never touched the ground from all the joy.

A lot of people say, “They had a hard life, and use it as reason for their actions.” Well, I can tell you that John had one of the hardest, but he Never let it Stop Him! He used that to push him to own his own business and give Shaylen everything she ever wanted.  In the drywall world, he was one of the best in Florida. One of true artistic ability and perfection.

In the last couple of months, He was in a lot of pain due to the surgeries that he went through. Even though the pain was so bad, he always had smile on his face and stupid jokes to go with it. He also always made time for his grandbabies.  John Newberry has touched every person in Okaloosa County one way or another. He will truly be missed by many. His time was short but he has no more pain and no more suffering. Walk free brother on the golden roads of Heaven. We will see you soon.

PSALM 23

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing He makes me to lie down in green pastures. He leads me besides quiet waters.

He refreshes my soul, He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley,

I will fear no evil, for you are with me;

Your rod and your staff,

They comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.

You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Surely your Goodness & Love will follow me all the days of my life.
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.
