Welcome to the memorial page for

Nancy Lee Kirkwood

May 26, 1948 ~ August 11, 2017 (age 69) 69 Years Old

It is with great sadness that the family of Nancy Lee Kirkwood announces her passing on August 11, 2017 at the age of 69 years. Nancy will be lovingly remembered by her son, Kevin Kirkwood, and his wife Melissa. Nancy will also be fondly remembered by her sister Judy Pauline, her husband David DeMarco (Christina), and by her brother George Howard Thayer, his wife Debie (Jimi and Anthony), and her brother Robert Thayer (Jack and Mark) and also by her aunts Helen, Anne, Mary Lou, Bunny and her uncles Charles, Andy.
She was preceded in death by her son Jon Philip, her mother Bette, and her step-father Cecil Thayer.
Nancy was born in Grove City, Pennsylvania, and raised in Conneaut, Ohio by her greatly adored parents George Spalding and Bette Day. Upon the passing of George in 1956, Bette would later remarry Cecil Thayer- a great man that raised Nancy, Judy, Chip and Robert.
Nancy was determined to seek a higher education. Her tenacity and persistence allowed her to earn a certificate in 1967 from Bliss College for the completion of courses in secretarial studies. In 1980 she received her bachelor degree from the University of Maryland, and later earned her masters degree in public administration from Troy State University. She enjoyed her long fulfilled career supporting the United States Air Force for over 30 years. After retiring in 2008, she placed her energy in philanthropy efforts at Sharing and Caring and also at the benevolence programs at Crosspoint Methodist Church.
