Walter Wendel Obituary

Walt Wendel, age 80, of Niceville FL, went home to be with his Lord and Savior after a brief illness. He was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and raised in Kansas City. After graduating Bethany College, he completed Lutheran Theological Seminary and served as a minister for 8 years. He then worked in the insurance industry as a regional manager in Tampa, FL. He retired and moved to Destin, FL to be near his living brother Bill Wendel, and met and married his loving wife, Judy, and settled in Niceville.

Walt leaves behind his son, Mark (Ginny); daughter, Dayna Ballew; son, Jay (Ronda) Kerr, son, Jim Kerr, son, Jeff Kerr; 6 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.

Walt was an avid golfer making three trips to Scotland. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Donations gladly accepted at Renovation Church of Niceville or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
