Albert Leslie Nash left this world on December 28, 2025. Al was born on October 20, 1927, in Louisville, Ky. His parents were John W. and Mary Florence (White\Smith) Nash. His parents and sisters, Margaret (Koch) and Edith Nash, and brother John are deceased. Al grew up in Louisville and graduated from Louisville Male High School in January 1946.
He began his 42-year career starting in the mail room with the L & N railroad in Louisville in 1946. He was with the Sales and Marketing division in Louisville, Pittsburgh, Mobile, and Louisville (again) before moving to Jacksonville following the L & N merger with the ACL, the present CSX Corp. While in Pittsburgh, he attended the University of Pittsburgh and became a certified member of the American Society of Traffic and Transportation. He was a member of Delta Nu Alpha and a past president of Saturday Morning Toastmasters in Jacksonville.
Al is survived by his wife, Sandra (Stamper) Nash, after years of bliss. Sandra was also employed by the L&N and later CSX. He is also survived by his sons Leslie, Nickolas, and Darrell Herdt, and daughter Sandra Nash-Cooper, as well as grandson Ben Neal, granddaughter Wendy Coon, and great-grandsons Daniel and CW and great-granddaughter Mackenzie.
