Angel Humphreys Obituary

Angel Loretta Humphreys

Angel Loretta Humphreys passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family, on Friday the seventeenth of September, the year of our Lord 2021. Angel was born May 8, 1973 in Montgomery, Alabama. She was the oldest child of the late Demarrah “Butch” Grant and the late Patricia Ann Meeks. Angel is survived by her soulmate and husband of 32 years, Randy Humphreys and their son Colby Humphreys. She is also survived by her sisters: Brenda (Sean) Fielding of Vernon, Fl; Rebecca Pinkham of De Funiak Springs, Fl; Sara Godwin of Black Creek, Fl; Brothers: Frank (Jenifer) Grant of Black Creek, Fl; Jeff (Dawne) Grant of De Funiak Springs, Fl; Thomas (Brittany) Godwin of Black Creek, Fl; and Ben (Jessie) Godwin of Basin Bayou, Fl.

It all started when Butch met Patty, without them we wouldn’t have had Angel. So, to yourself and in your heart, please thank them for their beautiful and amazing gift to this world...Angel. They had their first born and would never know what kind of impact that that name truly defined the kind of person she was, an “Angel”.

Sometimes in our lifetime we do not see the beauty we were meant to see, but then sometimes we see too much and are overwhelmed. Our hearts beat too fast, our lungs fill with an air that’s too strong and we get lightheaded. We smile so wide that our face feels pain, but we never stop smiling because we welcome it. We love too hard and cry too long, but that’s how we were made. Strong and weak. The passion we hold in our hearts is the only real truth we keep to ourselves. Letting out only two percent of it in one lifetime knowing that if we let out any more than that, then we’d surely die leaving behind our true mark...family, friends, and loved ones. We hold on to the hope that’s greater than ourselves. And we die just the same, leaving behind our legacy.

Laughter, love, grace, and memories that will last lifetimes. Her family and friends will be her legacy. They will hold on to her heart forever. In truth, no one ever truly dies as long as a memory is left behind.

Today we remember a woman of fierce strength and love. She spent her life giving that love to everyone she knew. Although she can’t be here today, we know without a shadow of a doubt, that she’s looking after each and every one of us with so much happiness in her heart.

When you lose someone, you love, your life becomes strange. The ground beneath you becomes fragile. Your thoughts make your eyes unsure. And some dead echo drags your voice down when your words have no confidence. Your heart has grown heavy with loss. Though this loss has wounded others too, no one knows what has been taken from you when the silence of absence deepens. Flickers of guilt kindle regret for all that was left unsaid or undone, BUT please remember...even though it seems this way, you are not alone! She walks with you. She holds your hand and helps you through this difficult time. Her love has not left you. I know this because her light is too bright.

There are some who bring a light so great to this world, that even after they’ve gone, that light still remains. Let her light brighten the darkness around you. Let the warmth of that light fill your heart with peace. In that peace, find comfort. A day will not pass that we will not think of her. The smile on her face or the way her eyes lit up when she was happy. The sound of her voice will ring in our ears forever. No amount of time can ever make us forget. We will remember Angel always.
