Angela Pierina Vercellino Coleman, age 89, passed away September 15, 2025. She will be remembered by those who loved her for her love of teaching, arts and crafts, ceramics, and her love of being a ‘Noni” to her 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Angie, as she was known to her friends, was born and raised on a farm in Valier, Illinois. She attended the University of Southern Illinois where she met her husband, the love of her life, Charles Dennis Coleman. They were wed on December 27, 1956. She also attended the University of Arizona, Wright State, and University of West Florida, over time completing a Master’s degree in Education.
Angie taught school in Mississippi, Ohio, and Walton County, Florida until she retired. She was an active member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, participating in Marriage Encounter, Pre Cana, Family Life, and Ladies Sodality. She supported her husband in his endeavors with the United States Air Force, Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Charles D. Coleman; her son, Phillip Wayne Coleman; her parents, Marie Nartica Getto Vercellino and Lorenzo “Curley” Vercellino; and her sister, Kathryn Marie Vercellino Hules.
She is survived by her two daughters, Ann Marie Coleman Grant and Karen Sue Coleman Cuchens (John “Chopper” Cuchens); seven grandchildren and their spouses, Angela Grant Bartlett (Michael), Craig Stephen Grant (Ashlyn), Nicholas Coleman (Julie), Matthew Coleman (Rita), Chaz Cuchens, David Cuchens, and John Cuchens. Angie is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren: Cecilia, Philip Wayne, Eibhlin, Betty, William, Bennett, and Matthew, and many nieces and nephews.
