Arthur Weekley, age 90, passed away February 7, 2024. He was born June 10, 1933 in Niceville, Florida.
Arthur loved his hometown of “Boggy.” When he had to leave for military service with the U.S. Navy, he could hardly wait to get back home. Art had many jobs throughout the years and was especially proud of the work he did as a supervisor with Scott’s Steel, where he put up metal buildings.
In 1998 Arthur became reacquainted with his childhood friend, Gwendolyn Davis Prince, and in 1999 they married. One of Art and Gwen’s favorite pastimes was dancing together. Almost every weekend they could be found at a local dance, where they had great fun and made many friends. Art also loved working with his hands. He had a large shed full of tools and equipment that he enjoyed using for projects. Together he and Gwen tackled remodeling and maintenance of the home they shared in Valparaiso. Art also enjoyed gardening, growing both vegetables and flowering plants.
Art is survived by his beloved wife Gwendolyn Weekley; daughters Belinda Moss (Billy), Sonya McKelvey, and Laura Clark (Brett); sons Michael Weekley and Keith Weekley (Adrianne); stepson Emmitt Prince, Jr.; stepdaughter Pamela Prince (Curtis Spangler); eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two children, Sharon Weekley and Jeffery Weekley. Numerous extended family members and friends also mourn Art’s passing.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2024, in the Chapel of Heritage Gardens Funeral Home, 2201 Partin Drive N, Niceville, Florida, with Tony McCullough officiating.
Floral arrangements will be accepted.
Burial will follow at Sweeney Cemetery, Niceville, Florida.
