Barbara Kathleen Alldredge peacefully passed into Glory on Monday, September 9, 2024, at The Opal of Bluewater Bay Senior Living Residence in Niceville, Florida. She was ninety-three.
Barbara was born to the late Frank and Daisy Tegethoff, June 16, 1931, in Washington, Kansas. She was raised in rural Kansas and attended a one room schoolhouse as a child. Her family moved closer to town so that Barbara could attend high school, where she eventually graduated as Valedictorian.
Barbara was a loving wife to her high school sweetheart, the late Richard Alldredge, for just short of fifty years. Married on October 16,1949, she and Richard traveled the world during Richard’s Air Force career, and were stationed in Montana, England, California, Panama, the Philippines, and finally settled in Niceville, Florida, in 1970. During all these travels, Barbara had her own successful thirty-five-year career in Civil Service, working as a secretary. She retired as a historian editorial assistant in 1995.
Barbara enjoyed cooking, crocheting, ceramics, gardening (she loved to pull weeds), shopping, bowling, and spending time with family and friends. She loved to minister to her older friends, who could no longer drive, by acting as chauffeur and companion. Barbara was led to saving faith in Christ by her sister and brother-in-law, Nadine and Ken Sparks, on August 4, 1975. She attended Forest Lake Bible Church for many years. Her strength of character and depth of faith were demonstrated by her faithful service to her family and friends.
Barbara lived in the same Niceville home that she had shared with Richard for fifty-two years. In May 2024, she moved to assisted living at The Opal of Bluewater Bay, where she grew to love the staff and residents. She was surrounded by her family when the Lord took her Home.
Barbara is survived by sons: Kevin and Brian (Carla); sister-in-law: Alma Tegethoff; six grandchildren: Josiah Alldredge (Julie), Lydia Kendall (Daniel), Samuel Alldredge (Hillary), Daniel Alldredge (Anna), Esther Alldredge, and Abby Greer (Nathan); and twenty-two great-grandchildren. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy!
The Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 on September 13, 2024, at Forest Lake Bible Church in Niceville, Florida, officiated by grandson Josiah Alldredge, with visitation starting at 1:00 PM. The Graveside Service will follow at Heritage Gardens in Niceville, Florida, with Daniel Kendall, grandson-in-law, officiating.
