Obituary for Barbara Berry
Barbara Helen Berry passed away at the age of ninety-two at her home in Bluewater Bay in Niceville, Florida on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. Barbara was born in Norwood, MA on December 11, 1928 to William and Ethel Street. She graduated from Dedham High School, Dedham, MA in 1946. Barbara graduated from Lasell Junior College in Auburndale, MA on June 7, 1948. Then she continued on at Lesley College in Cambridge, MA to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Education on June 10, 1951. Barbara taught first and second grade in Hanover, NH, where she met Robert Berry. They married on June 20, 1953 and moved to Barbara’s home town of Dedham where Barbara taught kindergarten at Dedham Community House and St. John’s Methodist preschool. She later worked for more than 38 years as a clerk at the London Harness store in Wellesley, MA. Additionally, Barbara and Robert raised three delightful children: Nancy, David, and William. Sadly, on January 8, 1985, her husband Robert passed away. Barbara delighted in meeting people and loved getting together with family. She was a joy to be with! Barbara loved ballet dancing and dreamed of becoming a famous ballet dancer. She was always ready for the next adventure with her grandchildren and loved cooking Sunday dinner and hosting family and friends. Barbara was always generous, especially with buying gifts for her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed sponsoring and corresponding with a child through Compassion International. We treasure these memories of her. Barbara is survived by her children, Nancy England, David Berry, and William Berry, seven grandchildren, six greatgrandchildren, four great-nephews, and a great-niece!
A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 17 at 2:30 pm at Rocky Bayou Baptist Church. Donations in honor of Barbara Berry may be made to Compassion International at www.compassion.com
