Barbara Pearl Fowler, 81, of Niceville, FL passed away on February 13th, 2020 in Ft Walton Beach, FL.
Barbara Pearl Fowler was born in Nebraska City, NE to Charles and Margaret Novak on October 1st, 1938. She married James Willis Fowler on March 11th, 1961 in Minot, ND. She was a devoted USAF wife and mother who followed her husband to every military base during his 33 years of service until they chose to retire here in Niceville.
Barbara was an active member in the Eglin women’s golf association, Eglin women’s bowling league and Eglin NCO wives club. She was active in the PTO’s of her daughters’ schools as well as serving on the board of the Wolverine softball complex where she as well as her daughters and granddaughter played. She could always be found in attendance of her children’s and then her grandchildren’s activities at Ruckel, Lewis, Meigs, and Niceville High School. She became a NWFSC athletics booster with her husband and could often be seen in attendance of their events.
Barbara became a member of the First United Methodist Church of Niceville in 1972 and was a faithful volunteer for many years with its Bargain Box. Later in life she split her attendance between Crosspoint and the Methodist Church in Choctaw Beach.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Margaret Novak. Survivors include her husband, James; daughters, Dana (Chuck) Wilson and Stacey (Rob) Darhower; brother, Duane Novak; sister, Dianne Marquart; grandchildren, Meghan and Chase Darhower, Chandlelyn and Chelsea Wilson; and many other nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5-7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 19th at Heritage Gardens Funeral Home, Niceville, FL. Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Thursday, February 20th at Crosspoint Church in Niceville, FL with Reverend Rurel Ausley officiating. Burial will follow in Heritage Gardens Cemetery.
Flowers and donations to the benevolent fund at Crosspoint Church are welcome.
