We are saddened to announce the passing of Barry Leon McCullough, age 88, of Crestview, Florida. Barry was born on June 20, 1935 in Sanford, Maine to Leon and Irma McCullough.
During his 21 years of service in the United States Air Force, Barry was a Commandant and formed the first NCO Leadership School at Hurlburt Field. After retirement, he taught ROTC at Choctaw High School and worked for 14 years Civil Service as a Supervisory Supply Analyst.
Barry was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and loved to golf. He won the Maine State Schoolboy Championship at age 15 and was very proud of his two plaques on the wall at the Eglin Golf Course for hole-in-ones.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Darlene; sons, Ricky F. McCullough (Mary ) and Gregory McCullough; daughters, Susan Winterberger (Robert) and Priscilla Moore (Richard); sister-in-law Sharon Raup (Fred); grandchildren, Justin Dockery, Jacob Dockery, Sara Blasberg, Jesse Vincent, Meagan Ross, Lindsay McCullough, Evan McCullough, Tiffani McCullough and Deanna McCullough; niece, Jackie Raup; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Barry is preceded in death by his parents.
There will be a visitation on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Heritage Gardens Funeral Home from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with the funeral service starting at 11:00 AM. Barry will be laid to rest at Heritage Gardens Cemetery following the service. Arrangements are in the care of Heritage Gardens Funeral Home.
