Betsy Ray Obituary

Betsy Hughes Ray peacefully journeyed home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 30, 2020. Betsy was born on July 4, 1933 in Fleetwood, North Carolina to William and Margaret Hughes. She met her husband, Robert (Bob) Ray (Col USAF ret), while attending Appalachian State University Teachers College in Boone, North Carolina. They married in 1955 and spent the next 30 years traveling throughout the United States and overseas during their Air Force career, retiring in Niceville, FL in 1978. Betsy loved to volunteer and serve, and volunteered for many years at Crosspoint Bargain Box, Twin Cities Hospital Gift Shop and Hospital Auxiliary. She faithfully and joyfully sang in the Crosspoint Church choir for many years.

Betsy is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Robert Ray, children Robert Ray Jr. (Teena), Elizabeth Yockey (Keith) and Steven Ray; grandchildren Nicole Munn (Gardner), Lauren Dahlenburg (Josh) and Kaden Davis Ray; and great-grandson Graham Munn. Betsy is also survived by her brother, Robert Hughes and sister Virginia Hughes.
