Beverly Lamor Wilson went peacefully to be with the Lord on June 17, 2021. She was born on December 11, 1935, in Somerville, Massachusetts to Harold Anthony Lamor and Esther Regina Sheehan Lamor. She was the second born of three children, and is predeceased by her sister, Barbara Charlotte and sister, Deborah Joy. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, Gilbert. She was a wonderful, devoted mother to her three children, Lyn Williams (Gary), Steven Wilson (Patty) and Kimberly Cullen. She was a loving grandmother to 13 beautiful children and an adoring great-grandmother to 14 more precious little ones.
Beverly grew up in South Orange, New Jersey. After graduating from Centenary Junior College in New Jersey, she moved to Jacksonville, Florida where her father was working. It was there that she met the love of her life, Gilbert Mortimer Wilson, on a blind date. They were married on June 29, 1957 and began their amazing journey through life together. After living in Gainesville and Jacksonville, they moved to Ft. Lauderdale in 1963, and it wasn’t long before they became the proud owners and managers of the Santa Barbara Inn in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. It was a great way to make a living and meet people from all over the world, as well as provide boundless vacation fun for the kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. They enjoyed running the motel for 51 years and sold it in 2015. Gilbert and Beverly traveled extensively with family and friends for years. After 56 years of living in Ft. Lauderdale, they moved to Niceville in 2019, so they could be close to family.
Beverly was a devoted Christian woman who loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength. She faithfully read the scriptures every day and was committed to praying for her family and friends. She loved to sing and served the church as a member of the chancel choir at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Ft. Lauderdale for over 40 years. She volunteered at Hope Pregnancy Center in Ft. Lauderdale for many years, protecting the unborn, all the while caring for her family and managing the motel business with Gilbert. She always found time for her family and friends and planned fun family vacations for her children and grandchildren, who have been blessed with many precious memories of her.
There will be a celebration of life on Monday, June 21, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church in Niceville, followed by a brief graveside service at Heritage Garden’s cemetery, where she will be interred. Visitation will be at First Presbyterian Church at 10:30 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Samaritan’s Purse Ministry or Covenant Care Hospice of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida.
