Colonel (R) Billy W. Fugitt, passed away, September 12, 2022, in Bluewater Bay, Florida at the age of 86.

 

Billy W. Fugitt was born December 11, 1935, near Clever, Missouri to Keith and LenaBelle (Gilmore) Fugitt. He graduated from Clever High School in 1953 and later entered Southwest Missouri State University. In 1957 he graduated and received a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. On October 19, 1957, Bill married Sue Todd in Springfield, Missouri. The two have been married for more than 64 years and were blessed with two wonderful daughters.

 

His professional military career as a Field Artillery Officer and Army Aviator, spanned more than 26 years. It included assignments to Korea, Vietnam, West Germany and many installations in the United States. During this period, he also attended Georgia Tech where he earned an MSIM in 1966, Air Force Command and Staff College in 1968, and the Army War College in 1978.

 

After retirement from the Army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in 1983, Bill joined Magnavox Electronic Systems Co., a member of the defense industry, where he was made Director of Command Systems. Bill retired for the second time in Ft. Wayne, IN where he and Sue lived until they moved to Blue Water Bay in 2006 and enjoyed spending time with family and friends on the beautiful Emerald Coast. Bill and Sue were also active members of Crosspoint Methodist Church in Niceville.

 

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Perry.

 

He is survived by his wife Sue, of the home; daughter: Debbie Almohandis of Tulsa, OK; son-in-law: Toby Perry of Sugar Land, TX, seven grandchildren: Deena Kirkland and her husband Robby, Becky Ricketts and her husband Rodman, Adam Perry and his wife Lauren, Sammy Almohandis and his wife Jordan, Jared Perry, Christine Pickard and her husband Ryan and Emma Perry. Eight great-grandchildren: Maddie, Ollie, Teddy, Evie Perry; Emmitt and Ellie Lou Almohandis; Lydia and Irene Ricketts and other relatives in CO and MO.

 

The family will receive visitors from 5:00-7:00 PM, Sunday September 25, 2022
