Carla Engeldinger Obituary

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Carla Rae (Larrabee) Engeldinger on January 26, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Carla was born March 16, 1943, in Menomonie, WI to the parents of Earl and Virginia (Midge) Larrabee. Carla attended her first 8 grades in a one room schoolhouse, and graduated from Menomonie HS and Eau Claire Vocational College. Carla married the love of her life Francis Engeldinger on September 8, 1962, and they were assigned to numerous Air Force Bases, stateside and overseas. Not counting a short period with Boeing Aircraft Co., at Vandenberg AFB, CA. Carla was with DOD Air Force for over 40 years. Some memorable assignments were working with a One Star at Army Section JUSMMAT, Ankara, Turkey, also a Two Star at Bldg. 1 Eglin, and eight Wing/Base Commanders at Eglin AFB, until retiring in 2007. Carla was passionate about animals and devoted her next 16 years to volunteering at Eglin Pet Welfare as a dog walker, dog adoption coordinator, and Chairman (12yr). Carla also volunteered with Angels Attic at Holy Name of Jesus Church (Niceville). Carla and Frank loved and looked forward to her annual birthday and anniversary trips to Biloxi, MS., enjoying the casinos. She was devoted to her family and cherished every moment together. She made every holiday memorable and special. She especially enjoyed watching The Voice with her sister via the phone. Some of her hobbies included shopping, scrapbooking, going to the movies, attending church, Packers football, Mary Kay, and taking care of her dogs. She has left behind a legacy of love, kindness, and strength.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Virginia (Midge) Larrabee, a brother-in-law Michael Koehler, and nephew Bradley Koehler. Carla is survived by her husband of 61 years Francis (Frank) Engeldinger, Daughter Renee (Gary) Aull, Son Jeffrey F. (Daniela) Engeldinger, Granddaughter Haley Aull, Grandsons Tanner Aull, Joshua (Meagan) Jones, Great Granddaughter Juliet Jones, Sister Dianna Koehler and numerous Nieces and Nephews.
