Col (Ret) Gregory Martin Risch

Greg Risch, age 66, of Crestview, FL, left this world to be with his God and Father on April 16, 2007.

Greg was born on July 15, 1940 to Bernard and Alma Risch in East Orange, NJ. After graduating from Seton Hall Prep School, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Notre Dame in June 1962, and received his commission as a 2'd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. He began his Air Force career two months later at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, FL.

After 28 years, and numerous assignments in Test & Evaluation, Satellite Systems, Space Shuttle Operations, Systems Acquisition, and as a Base and Group Commander, Greg retired in the grade of Colonel at Eglin AFB, FL in January 1989.

During his Air Force career he received many awards, decorations and citations, which included the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Legion of Merit. While serving his country, Greg also graduated from various Service Schools and earned Master of Science Degrees in Systems Management from Florida State University. and in Guidance and Human Development from Troy State University.

Upon retiring from the Air Force, he established a consulting firm, Risch & Associates, which he successfully operated until 2003.

Greg is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sue, his two daughters and their spouses, Beth and Steve Marks of Crestview, Jennifer and David Stephens of Fredericksburg, VA, his precious granddaughter Carson Ann Stephens, and numerous cousins. Greg was also a friend of Bill W.

A celebration of Greg's life will be conducted at 10:00 am on Friday, April 20, 2007 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church located in Niceville with Father Daniel Butler officiating.
