Deborah Joyce Griffin of Fort Walton Beach, Florida passed away on May 9, 2022.
Debby was a member of Ocean City Church in Fort Walton Beach since 1955. She served as a teacher, mentor, children/youth leader, and faithful prayer warrior. She graduated from Florida State University in 1972 with a BS in Merchandising/Business. After working as an interior decorator and drafting house plans, Debby started working in Library Services at Eglin AFB in 1976.
In 1997 she progressed to the Director of Marketing and Publicity for the 96th Force Support Squadron where she served for the last 25 years. In this capacity, she was responsible for providing services to Air Force Materiel Command’s largest Force Support Squadron comprised of over 40 facilities including: military and civilian personnel, education and training, Airman and Family Readiness, Library, Fitness and Sports, child and youth development, lodging, food service, recreation, and other services in support of the Air Force’s largest installation.
Debby is preceded in death by her parents James C. Griffin Jr. and Kathryn Pauline (Polly) Griffin. She is survived by one brother: Jim Griffin of Fort Walton Beach. Three sisters: Jan (Bob) Koncar of Jacksonville, Patti (Jeff) Adams of Fort Walton Beach, and Michelle (Sean) Kitch of Defuniak Springs. Six nieces: Katie (Will), Olivia (Caleb), Sarah (Jon), Keri, Brittany (Cody), and Grace. One nephew: Denham (Mallorie). Four great nephews: Emery, Dawson, Mason, and Cohen. Three great nieces: Isabella, Savannah, and Ruby.
A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 6:00pm at Ocean City Church, 428 NE Racetrack Road, Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the building fund of Ocean City Church will be accepted in her honor.
