Diane Meyers Obituary

Diane Cruttenden Meyers, 74, of Niceville, passed on Monday, January 22, 2024 at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, after a brief illness.

Diane was born in Alexandria, Louisiana on January 5, 1950 at Mother Cabrini Hospital. She was the daughter of Cyrus (Sid) and Norma Cruttenden and moved to Niceville in 1959. She graduated from Niceville High School in 1967, Okaloosa Walton Junior College (AA) in 1969, and University of West Florida (BA) in 1971. Diane was a certified teacher in both Duval and Okaloosa Counties and taught for several years. She then made a career change to the world of finance and dedicated 38 years of service to the Eglin Federal Credit Union. She received an Honor Roll Certificate from the National Association of Federal Credit Unions for faithful service.

She enjoyed preparing her famous gumbo and red velvet cake for family and friends, and watching LSU football and baseball. Diane also loved traveling to Orlando, Savannah, St. George Island, and New Orleans. She took pride in keeping the cleanest home in Niceville.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, sister Laurine Gavron, and brother-in-law Christopher Meyers (Diane).

Diane is survived by Tom Meyers, her loving husband of nearly 47 years. Their marriage was blessed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in 1977. Her legacy lives on with treasured son, Chip Meyers and his lovely wife Crystal, and two adored grandchildren, Tommy and Andie. Additionally, she is survived by her brother Brian Cruttenden (Wanda), brothers-in-law John (Fredna) Meyers, Mike (Debbie) Meyers, Russell Gavron, sister-in-law Harriet Jones, nephews Rusty Gavron and Cyrus Cruttenden, and nieces Erin Bidani and Amy Benzenhafer. Also surviving are cousins Jackie Marlette, Matt Juneau, John Juneau, Roni Sanders, Patty Riche, Leah Juneau, Barbara Juneau, Robert Juneau, Les Juneau, Brad Juneau, and Billy Juneau. A special thank you goes to her long time best friend, Debby Thorne.
