Dolores Hudson Obituary

It is with tender hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of Dolores L. Hudson, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who departed this life peacefully on November 2, 2025, in her home in Niceville, FL, at the age of 88.

Born on June 2, 1937, in West Ely, Missouri, Dolores grew up on the family’s farm and was the youngest of four children. She married her husband, Donald, shortly after he joined the U.S. Army at the age of 18, and they recently celebrated 69 wonderful years of marriage.

Dolores devoted her life to those she loved. She cherished her husband, her sons, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Whether she was tending to her home, offering words of encouragement, or preparing meals shared with laughter around the table, Dolores gave of herself fully and unconditionally.

She lovingly supported her husband in his long and adventurous military career and different military assignments and obligations, and then in their real estate business, followed by retirement and world travel. Her faith guided her, her friendships and family sustained her, and her joyous life left a lasting imprint on those whom she met along the way.

Dolores will be remembered for her radiant smile, her unwavering love, and her ability to find joy in all of life’s simple moments. Though our hearts will miss her terribly, her memory and love will continue to live on in the lives she touched.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Laura and Godfrey Bode; her brothers, Vernon and Eldon Bode; and her sons, David and Denny Hudson. She is survived by her husband, Donald Hudson; her sister, Norma Boettcher (Loren); her son, Damon Hudson (Kellie); her grandchildren, Kevin Hudson (Karina), Samantha Hudson (Thomas), Collete Hudson, Curren Daniels, Amera Lee (Jason), Aden Hudson, and Daylan Hudson; and three great-grandchildren, Victoria, Jordan, and Madeline Hudson.

A celebration of her life will be held on November 12, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Shalimar, FL. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor her memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Shalimar, FL; Hospice (Vitas Healthcare), Niceville, FL; Synergy Homecare, Destin, FL; or any other charity you hold dear to your heart.

Her love was her legacy — and that love will forever remain.
