Dolores (Dee) Curole Lowrey, 83 of Birmingham, Alabama passed into the arms of Jesus on February 25, 2024 surrounded by her family. Dee had a bright spirit and a deep love for people. She is survived by her 2 sons, Lance Lowrey (Kristin) of Birmingham, AL and Craig Lowrey of Hoover, AL and her 5 granddaughters, Addison Lowrey, Sophia Lowrey, Kennedy Lowrey, Stella Lowrey, and Harper Lowrey. Dee was born and raised in Cut Off, Louisiana. Although she moved away from the Bayou as a young adult she always clung to her Cajun roots. She graduated from St. Mary’s Dominican High School, in New Orleans and then joined the convent. After serving 10 years as a Dominican Nun, she left the convent to follow a calling to teach. She received her Bachelor’s degree from LSU and Nicholls State. She retired with over 30 years of dedicated service to elementary school education.
Dee was a longtime resident of Niceville, Florida but moved to Alabama to be closer to her family just 2 years ago. While in Niceville she was active in her church and community.
She enjoyed entertaining and traveling. She never met a stranger and loved people deeply. Dee was full of life. She was loved and will be missed by many.
