Dolores Lowrey Obituary

Dolores (Dee) Curole Lowrey, 83 of Birmingham, Alabama passed into the arms of Jesus on February 25, 2024 surrounded by her family. Dee had a bright spirit and a deep love for people. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50+ years, Edward Lowrey, her parents, Syriaque and Victoria Curole, and her older brother Schaeffer Curole.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Lance Lowrey (Kristin) of Birmingham, AL and Craig Lowrey of Hoover, AL and her 5 granddaughters, Addison Lowrey, Sophia Lowrey, Kennedy Lowrey, Stella Lowrey, and Harper Lowrey. They were the joy of her life. She is also survived by her sisters, Connie Cheramie (Van) and Dinah Bradford (John), her sister-in-law, Marilyn Curole, and many nieces and nephews.

Dee was born and raised in Cut Off, Louisiana. Although she moved away from the Bayou as a young adult she always clung to her Cajun roots. She graduated from St. Mary’s Dominican High School, in New Orleans and then joined the convent. After serving 10 years as a Dominican Nun, she left the convent to follow a calling to teach. She received her Bachelor’s degree from LSU and Nicholls State. She retired with over 30 years of dedicated service to elementary school education.

Dee was a longtime resident of Niceville, Florida but moved to Alabama to be closer to her family just 2 years ago. While in Niceville she was active in her church and community.

She enjoyed entertaining and traveling. She never met a stranger and loved people deeply. Dee was full of life. She was loved and will be missed by many.
