Donald Duncan Obituary

Donald Ray Duncan

Donald “Don” Ray Duncan born April 6, 1934 in Rockdale, Texas to the late Hollis and Reed Duncan. He passed away quietly at his home in Niceville, FL, Thursday April 29, 2021. He was preceded in death by his brother William Duncan and sister Wanda Cochrane.
Don was a true patriot who retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service from 1954 until 1974. His work in the Air Force locally was at Site C-6, but he served his country overseas and across the United States.  After retiring from the Air Force, he worked an additional 15 years with the civil engineers at Eglin as an electronics technician.
Don was an outgoing outdoorsman who loved his family and had many close friends. He was an avid boater, swimmer, and fisherman. He also enjoyed to dip net for crabs. He taught his kids and grandkids to swim, fish, and ski at an early age. He was amazingly skilled at tinkering and it was rare to find something he couldn’t fix. He was an avid coin collector. When in his native Texas he enjoyed target practice, hunting quail, and planning the elusive snipe hunts. Don also enjoyed music and dancing and instilled this love to his family and friends.
He was married to and survived by the love of his life, Tommie Ruth, for 66 years. They had two devoted and loving children that he was devoted to and adored, Dana Lynn Self and Michael Wayne (Kathy). He was a wonderful, supportive and fun grandfather to four Grandchildren, Curtis (Heather), Samantha (James), Carla (Andrew), and Alisa (Darian) as well as seven Great Grandchildren, Aaron, Sydney, Mason, Madison, Micah, Rory, and Maya. He always provided well for his family.  We will all miss his love, his smile, and his comforting soul.
A funeral service will be held at Heritage Gardens in Niceville, FL, on Tuesday May 4, 2021 at 11 am.
