Douglas “Doug” S. Blair, 87 of Niceville, FL passed away peacefully in his sleep and went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 14, 2020. He was born in Carbondale, PA on November 22, 1932 during the depression era.
Doug proudly served 29 years in the United States Air Force which included the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He traveled all over the world during his career and landed at Eglin AFB as his last assignment. He earned several medals which included the Purple Heart. He continued to serve in the Civil Service for 16 years until his retirement October 2000. Throughout all of his service to the country, he always remained humble.
He was the middle of three children born to the late Fritz and Minna Blair. He is preceded by his parents and older brother Bryce W. Blair. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Helen E. Blair, son Frank K. Blair of Mobile, AL, daughter Rose (Darrel) Shatterly of Fort Walton Beach, FL, granddaughter Britney H. Shatterly of Birmingham, AL, younger sister Judith A. Blair from Mifflinburg, PA, sister-in-law Nancy Blair of Hummelstown, PA, niece Vicky Crout of Hummelstown, Pa, nephew Rick (Linda) Blair of Hummelstown, PA and their kids and grandchild.

A time of visitation will be held from 2:00- 3:00pm on Friday, March 20, 2020 at Heritage Gardens Funeral Home and Cemetery, 2201 Partin Drive N, Niceville, FL 32578. Graveside Services with Military Honors will begin at 3:00 pm, with Dr. Mickey Hawkins officiating.
