Dr. Kenneth Haskin Obituary

Dr. Kenneth “Ken” Haskin, 75, of Niceville, Florida passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 29th, 2024, at Twin Cities Hospital. He was surrounded by his beloved wife and dog, “BG”. Ken leaves behind a legacy as a dedicated and caring community physician. Ken’s kindness, deep understanding of people, exceptional intelligence, and witty humor left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

Ken was born on the 17th of June 1949, in Los Angeles, California to Walter & Jeanette Haskin. He received his Bachelor of Science in Invertebrate Zoology at the University of Southern California, and subsequently attended the University of California Irvine where he obtained his Doctoral degree in Internal Medicine.

Following the completion of his residency at Kern Medical Center, Ken joined the Navy as a Flight Surgeon, and relocated from Los Angeles, California to Pensacola Naval Air Station, where he served in the Navy for 4 years before settling down in Niceville as a primary care physician. Ken practiced medicine for 35 years before retiring to enjoy traveling the world and spending more time with family and friends.

Ken is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Regina Haskin; his children, Carolyn Beamer (Brett), Adam Haskin (partner Bradley), Lauren Haskin (partner Christopher); and his grandchild, Elijah Beamer. He is preceded in passing by his parents, Walter and Jeanette, and his brother, Clifford Haskin.

Ken had a passion for sailing. He was a regular at the Bluewater Bay Marina where he spent many treasured memories with his friends and sailing on his beloved sailboat, “Adam’s Rib”. Ken was the embodiment of a true sailor; he never felt lost at sea. Many fond memories with his loved ones were spent at Marker 50 and other spots along the intracoastal waterway. Ken was equally passionate about flying and loved nothing more than spending time with his QBs and his “BG”. The memories, friendships, and brotherhood were incredibly meaningful to Ken, and will forever be honored in this life and the next.

A memorial service will be held at Heritage Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery on Saturday, July 13th, 2024. Visitation with the family will start at 1:00 pm, followed by the service at 2:00 pm. Ken’s family is extremely grateful for all the prayers and continued support from the community during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Niceville Sharing & Caring in Ken’s memory.

The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Henry Hsiang at the Emerald Coast Cancer Center.
