We are paying tribute to a person who went about doing good and who always put God first in her life. Mrs. Edith Jemison was born in Savannah, Georgia on December 20, 1940. She departed this life on October 10, 2023.
She began this walk with God at an early age, attending Antioch Baptist Church in West Palm Beach, Florida where she was baptized and was a faithful and dutiful member until she graduated from high school.
Edith attended Roosevelt High School in West Palm Beach, Florida. After high school, she attended Tuskegee University where she received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing in 1963. While at Tuskegee, Edith met the love of her life, Andrew Jemison, who later became her husband. From this union, they were blessed with three wonderful children: Monica, Duane, and Karen, along with one granddaughter, Kaitlyn.
Edith spent her professional career as a Registered Nurse in various settings to include a VA hospital, Philadelphia school system, medical-surgical nursing, and OB/Women’s health at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. She retired from nursing in 2005. Edith was also involved in many church and community activities. She was a member of New Life Christian Ministries in Niceville, Florida. Edith joined the prayer group with the Heaven’s View Baptist ministry every morning at 5:00 AM. She participated in Bible study groups on Wednesday evenings and Thursday mornings. She has also volunteered at Sharing and Caring.
Now, her work is done. Edith’s spirit was filled with love, devotion, and a kind heart of giving to her family and friends. It is with this faithful spirit that she humbly submitted and accepted her call to glory.
Edith leaves to cherish her memories her children: Monica, Duane, and Karen; a granddaughter, Kaitlyn; three sisters: Rosa Lee Brisbane of Savannah, Georgia, Loretha Badger of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Shirley Farr of Wilmington, Delaware. She also leaves to cherish her memories a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
