Elmer “Chad” Chadwick was born in Port Arthur, Texas to Guy and Ethel Chadwick. He was educated in a Lutheran school, Thomas Jefferson High School, and Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. He majored in Civil engineering and received an excellent education.
“Chad” was a contract engineer all his working life. He began with (Convair) General Dynamics doing stress analysis on airplanes right after college and continued as a “job shopper” with Beach Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas, Ling Timco Vaught (LTV) and Bell Helicopter in the Dallas area, as jobs ended.
Others included MacDonald Douglas, St. Louis, Missouri; North American Rockwell, Los Angeles, California; Boeing Wichita, Kansas; and Gulf Stream, Savannah, Georgia. He also worked for several of these companies many times as needed.
In between jobs “Chad” enjoyed sailing his boats for pleasure, relaxation, and his friends in Niceville.
He is survived by his wife Jean of seventy years; his son Mike and wife Cathy of Pflugerville, Texas; sister Betty Scott and nephews Mark and David LaGrange; nieces Kerry (John) Helbig, Kathryn (Mark) Townley; and other nieces, nephews, and many good friends of Texas.
Also surviving “Chad” is a brother-in-law Randolph Smith of Niceville, Florida, his daughter Sherry (Roger) Cadenhead, her son Joe and Randolph’s son Randall, and his children of Laurel Hill, Florida. Others Are sister-in-law Elaine Smith of Gadsden, Alabama, her sons Tim (Sandy) Smith and sons of Alabama, Eddie Adams, and Many good Friends in Okaloosa County, Florida.

“Chad” lived 92 years and enjoyed a very good, long life.
