Elsie Fults, of Niceville, Florida, peacefully joined her Lord and Savior on January 15, 2025. She was surrounded by her caring family members who loved her as a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
A native of Grundy County, TN, Elsie was born in Palmer, TN to Claude T. Scissom and Pearl Ellen Scissom. Raised during The Depression as the daughter of a Tennessee Coal Miner, she went on to live a very blessed and interesting life spanning 93 wonderful years. A life full of family, love, laughter, travel and friends.
Elsie graduated in 1950 from Grundy County High School where she excelled in school and captured the heart of the best looking star football player and love of her life, Jim. She attended Middle Tennessee State University earning a degree in education, as well as a certification with Edmonds Business College. She taught school to various grades in Coalmont, TN and worked for the Murray Bicycle Company in Cleveland, Ohio. She married that handsome football player, the love of her life, Jim, the summer of 1953 and shared the next 69 years with him. She followed him throughout his military career in the US Air Force traveling to various assignments in the US and Japan.
Jim and Elsie's marriage was one that many recognized as a truly devoted one filled with joy, and endless love. Always supportive of the family and their children, Elsie found ways to stay busy at each new military assignment.
She became known for her beautiful custom cakes and wedding cakes that she and Jim delivered to many happy brides. She shared her creativity through cake decorating as well as many other crafts. Elsie unselfishly volunteered for the Twin Cities Hospital Auxiliary for more than 4 years and spent many days volunteering at both Elliott Point Elementary as well as Destin Elementary on behalf of her 4 grandsons in attendance.
Even in her 90’s, Elsie continued to help others, teaching them to cook or sharing recipes. She stayed in touch with her many friends and relatives with beautiful hand written sentiments. Elsie was a devout Christian. She studied her Bible and daily devotions, and shared her belief in the Lord and speaking the truth about life's important things with those she encountered. She relished the truly important things such as family time, family appreciation, and family gatherings.
Elsie is survived by her son Bruce Fults (Sherrie), daughter Cindy McIntyre (Marc), brother Tom Scissom (Martha), sister Wanda Bible (Jack), sister Anna Breneman (Bob), brother John Burnett (Linda), grandchildren Jason Schweizer (Margaret), Jarrod Schweizer, Chase Fults (Chloe), Tyler Fults (Katie), Great grandchildren Wyatt and Finley Schweizer, and Cecelia, Samuel and Ellis Fults as well as more than 25 nieces and nephews.
