Frances Monette Steward

Frances Monette Steward, a lovely woman and wonderful mother passed away on July 15, 2024, in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. Monette was born in Panama City, Florida on September 11, 1932, to Clarence and Irene Gilbert of Parker, Florida.

Monette married Edward Steward and shared sixty-two years of marriage together, enjoying many adventures. As a devoted military spouse, she lived in many places such as Alaska in the early 1950s and later in Bermuda. When Ed retired from the military, they moved to the panhandle of Florida, eventually settling in Niceville, Florida. She and Ed continued to travel making new friends wherever they went.

Monette dedicated her life to her family. At home she created an atmosphere of love and learning, always placing the needs of her children in the forefront. She loved to cook and never missed an opportunity to prepare a meal for guests and family. Later in her life, the people who knew her consistently offered unsolicited compliments of sweet and thoughtful, simply a lovely person.

Monette engaged in her Christian faith at First Baptist Church on Bayshore in Niceville, Florida. She was a devout Christian who greatly enjoyed time spent with her Sunday school classmates.

Monette is survived by her four children, David Steward and his wife Linda of Atlanta, GA, Charlene Steward of Dothan, Alabama, Keith Steward of Milton, Florida, and Francene Steward of Pensacola, Florida. She is also survived by her sister Joyce Steward and her husband Clarence of Shalimar, Florida, her brother Kenneth Gilbert and his wife Jackie of Raleigh, North Carolina and eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Monette was preceded in death by her husband Rufus Edward Steward, her sisters Alma Proper and Alene Jones, and her daughter in law Aileen Steward, deceased wife of Keith Steward.
