Frank Kenneth Roshto, 83, of Valparaiso, Florida passed away peacefully on July 2, 2024, in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. Frank leaves behind a legacy as a dedicated civil servant, deeply patriotic veteran, exceptionally intelligent individual, genealogy extraordinaire, and caring husband and father. He would want to be remembered as a “good man”, which he always was.
Frank was born on May 25, 1941, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to Frank and Alice Roshto. He graduated from Greenwood High School in 1959. While still in high school, Frank entered the US Naval Reserves. After graduation, he transferred to the Regular Navy as an Aerologist. He completed his military service in 1963 and attended the University of Southern Mississippi. In 1967, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.
He began his 33 years of civil service at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida in 1967. He received many awards throughout his career, including an award from the US Department of State for his humanitarian efforts while working on the Indochina Refugee Effort.
Frank met his first wife, Patricia Jean Pinkerton, while riding a city bus to college. They were married on July 9, 1965, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. They had two children, Kenneth Paul Roshto and Melanie Clarice Roshto. Frank later married Ellen Marie Hargus on May 2, 1986, in Valparaiso, Florida. He became father to her three daughters, Tamara, Tina and Tonya. Frank will be remembered as a loving, protective husband and father. He loved gardening, genealogy, reading, war movies, Liberty boats, his country, the ocean and simple ways.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Roshto Jr and Alice Marie Davenport, brother Richard Allen Roshto and sister Janice Theresa Roshto Farr. His is survived by his loving wife, Ellen Marie Hargus Roshto of Valparaiso, Fl, sister Dianne Elizabeth Roshto Gustafson (Chuck) of Green Bay, WI, son Kenneth Paul Roshto of Huntsville, AL, daughter Melanie Clarice Roshto Dunne (Christopher) of Anthem, Arizona, stepdaughters Tamara Marie David of Niceville, Fl, Tina David- Satterly of Shalimar, Fl and Tonya Beth David Leonard (Steve) of New Hampshire. He will be remembered and missed by his 8 grandchildren: Julia Katrina Dunne Taylor, Kylie Brooke Dunne Smith, Ethan Mark Dunne, Emily Clarice Dunne, David Alexander Satterly, Chase Satterly, Taylor Lorraine Leonard Jackson, Cameron Michael Leonard, and Parker Richard Leonard and 3 great grandchildren: Lydia Katrina Taylor, Hallie Brooke Taylor and Beckham Michael Smith.
A celebration of life will be held at the Heritage Gardens Funeral home on July 15th, 2024 at the Heritage Gardens Cemetery with interment at the Heritage Gardens Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers will include Christopher Kirk Dunne, Stephen Michael Leonard, David Alexander Satterly, Chase Satterly, Cameron Michael Leonard and Parker Richard Leonard. Honorary pallbearers include Kenneth Paul Roshto, Ethan Mark Dunne and Charles Ely Gustafson.
