Franklin Hartwell Prestwood, Jr., born August 27, 1942, in Clanton, Alabama, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Known affectionately as “Dancing Frank,” “Frankster,” and “Mr. Frank,” he was a true gentleman who never met a stranger. With his warm smile and easy laugh, he could strike up a conversation with anyone and leave them feeling like an old friend. Whether he was out dancing, riding his bike anywhere and everywhere, sharing a good meal, or simply sitting on the porch with family and friends, Frank lived life with genuine joy and kindness. He was a devoted Christian who had strong faith in the Lord. Music was his constant companion, and his love for it was contagious to everyone around him.
A graduate of Choctaw High School, he attended the University of Florida. He proudly served as district manager for Jerry’s Caters for many years. He was the oldest of four brothers and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his son, Frank Prestwood; daughters Christine Prestwood, Virginia Prestwood, and Mackenzie Prestwood; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his brothers Lee, Clarence, and Mike Prestwood. He was predeceased by his wife, Lorraine Prestwood; his daughter, Sophia Hayes; his mother, Grace Prestwood; and his father, Franklin Prestwood, Sr.
Frank’s smile, his love of music, and the way he welcomed everyone will be deeply missed.
