Glyn “Wes” Lassiter

Wes Lassiter, of Niceville, FL, passed away quietly after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s, with his loving wife at his side. He was born in Florala, AL, the son of Margaret “Margie” Clark and the late Glyn Lassiter. Wes served in the U.S. Navy, and was a proud Vietnam veteran. After completing his military commitment in 1971, he began his civil service career at Eglin Air Force Base, FL and served over 37 years before retiring as the Civilian Personnel Officer, 96th Air Base Wing in 2008. After his federal retirement, Wes worked for the City of Niceville and volunteered with Crisis Lifeline; Sharing and Caring; and Benevolence Ministry Crosspoint. He was an avid gun collector, guitar man, photographer, kayaker, and enjoyed Thursday and Friday card nights with friends. He is survived by his wife, Donna Dandelakis Lassiter; sons, Jason (Amanda) and Aaron (Susan); daughter, Laura (Jason); stepchildren, Thomas (Rita), Tim (Jackie) and Tanya (Albert); six grandchildren (Skyler, Elton, Christine, Jordan, Matthew, and Michael); two sisters, Marcia (Jim) and Lisa (Jim); brother Allen (Christine); mother Margie; and a host of family and friends who were touched by his quick wit, love and guidance. A Visitation Service will be held 10 a.m., Monday, August 8th, 2022, at Heritage Gardens Funeral Home, 2201 Partin Drive N, Niceville FL 32578. Following the visitation, a grave site burial will be held 2 p.m., at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola FL. If you plan to attend the burial be at the Pensacola - Olive Baptist Church, parking lot, 1836 E Olive Rd, Pensacola FL 32514 not later than 1:15 p.m. to join the procession. In lieu of flowers, feel free to make a donation to a charity of your choice in memory of Wes.
