Helen M. Short passed away peacefully on June 13, 2023, in Crestview, Florida at the age of 85.
She is tenderly remembered by her devoted children, Joey and his wife Terri Short, Denice and her husband Bill Poindexter, Diana and her husband David Cassell; her sister Virginia Woodson and brother Gerald and his wife Katie Loyd; six grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie J. Short; son Loyd D. Short; and grandson Charles Short.
She was born in Clark County, Arkansas on August 5, 1937, and resided for many years in Okaloosa County, Florida. She served as a loving wife to her active duty military husband for 20 years, residing in Japan, Texas, Arkansas, and eventually Okaloosa County where she worked for the Okaloosa County Council on Aging. While working for the Council on Aging, she was instrumental in the conversion and opening of the Twin Cities Pavilion. She later worked for retired from Wal-Mart. She then pursued her love of quilting and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
