Inge M. Eschmann, 95, of Niceville, Florida died peacefully on March 28, 2023. Inge was born in Regensburg, Germany. She always shared memories of her loving mother and stories of having to go into bomb shelters as a young girl as B-17 bombers attacked the nearby factories. Inge never knew her father because her mother was pregnant with her when he died of illness due to World War I. In 1947, Inge met Karl, who was a part of the American Occupation Government in the United States Army after the end of the war. In 1948, they married in Regensburg and soon after returned to the United States. Inge was the most faithful Air Force wife and mother. She followed Karl to many European and stateside assignments until he retired in San Antonio, Texas. She was a Red Cross Volunteer overseas and hosted many parties for her husband's unit while he was on active duty. Her main mission in life was raising her two boys and saving money to help them through college. While settling in the United States, she went to dental assistant school and became a certified Dental Assistant. Inge retired after 20 years working for the Audie Murphy VA Hospital in San Antonio. After her husband's death, she moved to Niceville to be near Karl and Charlotte for support. At the age of 85, she took classes to learn how to use the computer so she could email family and friends around the world. Independence was Inge's motto. She would tell her son and daughter-in-law, "I'll let you know when I'll need your help." She did just that a few months before her death. She told Karl that she needed to go to an assisted living facility and gave up the keys to her car. She was a great inspiration and a wonderful example of perseverance and patience, as she struggled herself for years with health issues.
Inge was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Karl, brothers Willi and Sepp Danner, and her sister, Dorle Kastenmeier. She is survived by her loving sons Karl J. (Charlotte) and Ronald A. (Dawn), her three grandchildren Stephanie (James) of Virginia, Stephen (Janie) of Oklahoma, and Lindsay of Oklahoma, and three great-grandchildren Katlyn, Molly, and Roger, and her nieces Ingrid and Gitti and their families in Germany.
