James (Jim) E. Phillips Jr, age 65 of Niceville, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 11, 2021. He was born October 14, 1955 at Eglin AFB to James Phillips Sr. and Doris (Groves) Phillips. He was a 1974 graduate of Niceville High School, and met his soulmate Debbie Griswold in 1976.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years Debbie Phillips of Niceville, FL, daughter Jennifer (Nick) McCormick of Henrico, VA, son Jimi (Lora) Phillips of Midlothian, VA, sister Karen (Joel) Richardson of Niceville, FL, brother Jon (Nova) Phillps of Pensacola, FL, sister Sarah (Ken) Nelson of Crestview, FL, brother Joe Phillips of Navarre, FL, brother Jeff (Melinda) Phillips of Greenville, TX, sister in law Nancy Phillips of Plains, GA, brother in law Donnie Foster of Niceville, FL, and brother in law Dennis Griswold of Crestview, FL. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Paige, Alexis, and Noah Phillips, and one great granddaughter Ceceilia Beals, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father James, mother Doris, brother Jason Phillips, great nephew Jonah Phillips, and brother Ron Phillips.
Jim was an electrician with Richardson Electric for over 30 years, a die hard Texas Longhorns fan, as well as a Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan. He also loved spending time and playing poker with family. He had an infectious smile, laugh, and will be truly missed by those that knew him.
Visitation will be held from 10:30-12:00, Friday May 14, 2021 with services starting at 12:00 at Heritage Gardens Funeral Home in Niceville. A private family burial service will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Department of Genitourinary Medical Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
